About Me
Hi there! I'm Chere' Evans, a nature photographer living in central Ohio. As a wife and mom, full-time software developer, and doctoral student, I was looking for a way to manage stress, get away from my computer, and get sunshine and movement back into my life, so I bought my first camera in 2022. I gained so much more than I had hoped! When I completed school early this year, I dove into this newfound joy passionately.
Photography helps me regain perspective, slow down, and focus on one thing carefully. It helps me find serenity and reminds me of the Creator's love of beauty and the little things. I try to get out multiple times a week, if not daily, even if it is only for 20 minutes at a time, which means photography is no longer something I dabble in to manage stress - it is a way of life that helps me find peace in the midst of our busy world.
My photos primarily focus on the landscapes, flowers, and insects in Central Ohio, whether my own backyard or the Columbus Metro Parks, but sometimes a strong vacation photo will make its way into my gallery. Regardless of the subject matter, I find focus and calm while creating art with my camera. I hope that through my work you can experience a snippet of that serenity for yourself.
My Position on AI
My work is my personal creative expression through the use of photography. While AI is a tool that can be used to create art, it is NOT my tool of choice. I never use AI to generate images or automatically edit for me. I use Lightroom for my post-processing, and most of my photos have had no AI tool use at all. However, Lightroom does provide AI enabled tools for things like removing graininess and spots or selecting a part of the photo. A few of my photos have been touched up by using these useful tools, when it was essential for communicating my vision.
As a software developer, I see AI as a useful tool to help us achieve our goals more efficiently (like dust spot removal on an image). However, I am strongly opposed to using it to replace human creativity or technical skill, and my photography reflects that philosophy.
In short, you can rest assured that my work is fully my own, flaws and all.
Well, except these photos of me shooting after sundown in Panama City, Florida. My mom snapped these with her cell phone, and I thought they were perfect for this page.
