Coastal Moments

The places where sea and land meet have a poetry all their own. Their beauty is fiercer than the prairies, and they often bear the scars of waves and storms. Yet life continues, resilient, even as sand erodes and hurricanes buffet.

This project is my exploration of the relationship between sea and land, whether calm or tumultuous. Currently, all photos are from the often forgotten coasts of Florida: Port St. Joe and the nearby Cape San Blas peninsula, an area I frequently visit and which had significant damage from Hurricane Michael.

However, freshwater seas can have similar stories, so visits to the nearby Great Lakes are in my future.

Perhaps you, like me, will be soothed by the color and shape of coastal scenes and inspired by the continued resilience of life in the midst of storm and erosion.
